Giving Thanks, Day Five

My Hometown.

I have lived in a bunch of places and in many houses in those places.  I went to school with the same group of kids from kindergarten through high school graduation.  Which means I lived in that town for thirteen years.  It seemed like home.

However, I have now lived in Paso Robles for seventeen years!  And in this house for fourteen!  By sheer length of time, this is now really my hometown.  And I love it.  We came here through a strange set of circumstances, but I am so glad we did!  We didn't really "pick it", but really feel that God led us here.

We have lived in little tiny towns and big cities.  I used to work in San Francisco.  Some of my children and grandchildren live in the Los Angeles area.  But, oh, I love my little town.  I love that we are a community.  I love that we feel safe.  I love the people.  I love the scenery.  I love living out in the country.  I love our town.

This is home.  I don't foresee us ever leaving this town.  I don't foresee us ever leaving this house.

It feels good to have a hometown.  Yes, I have found home.
