Elegant Evening

Around the middle of November, all the downtown merchants in our town host an open house called "Elegant Evening". Yes, the people dress up (Okay, some only as elegant as the Central Coast is known for -- in other words, beach casual) and go from store to store eyeing all the wares, enjoying yummy hors d'oeuvre's, sipping cider (and champagne), watching various entertainment, entering drawings, and just getting in the proper holiday spirit.


The window displays take on certain new dimensions.

Papa, Diego, and I go up to a roof-top art studio just to take in the view. One of my favorite sights of the night.

The night ends with the Correas hitching a ride home on one of the pedi-cabs.

How fun is all that? The merriment lasts for three hours -- if your feet can handle it! We all gave out about a half an hour early!

I was also delighted to find a couple of stores that intrigued me enough to go back to browse again. Which I assume was the objective in the first place! If they allow pictures, I'll be sure to share!
