Fair Fun!

The Gombojav children came to visit for the last week of July. We had so much fun that I didn't even have the time (or energy) to blog about it! But, Daja and the kids are coming back for a visit this Thursday (how blessed can I be?) and staying for a week. So, I'd better hurry and tell you all about our last visit or I'll have to be doubling up!

The day after they arrived, we went to the fair! On the way, the kids practiced the fun they were going to have on the hills of our country roads. It isn't the way we usually go to town, but they always ask Papa to go the "hill way".

Okay, Papa and Nana must be crazy, but five children (with the oldest being 7 and the youngest being 1) didn't seem quite right, so we picked up Diego (age 2 1/2), too. If you are going to the fair with a bunch of kids, what difference is there between 5 or 6?

So, first things, first. They were so ready to go on a ride! I'm not sure but that Papa just wanted to get it out of the way! So, off to the carnival we went.

Luc, Diego, and Captain wanted to go on the pink elephants.

Meg and Izzy wanted to go on the log ride. I certainly didn't want to. But, Papa isn't real game on rides, so he talked me into it. "You won't get wet. It's just a little ride." Famous last words. I got soaked. So, there I was a the beginning of our day, sopping wet. Good thing it was a very warm day. I did eventually dry.

Next stop, gelato! They each picked their own flavor. We had everything from Chocolate Oreo to Mango/Peach to Pistachio. They do all have their own tastes! The baby just got to munch on a piece of waffle cone given him specially by the owner.

After the Zoo-to-You show, they rode the ponies. Had to ride in shifts.

We spent a L O N G time visiting all the animals: chickens, rabbits, heifers, steers, hogs, goats, sheep, and horses.

Israel loved the horses. Went right up and petted them.

However, Diego ran over and grabbed Izzy's shirt trying to pull him back from the horse. His explanation: "I'm protecting him!"

It's fun to go places without your parents. Parents don't usually let you run all the way to the top of the bleachers!

Everyone had a great time, even Belgee.

But there is a price to be paid for having so much fun in one day. Early to bed with Grandpa!

  1. Hi Dorothy, Boy, it looks like you had a blast. Don't you love it when you can act like a child again with all the young ones.
I'm still working on your PIF gift, don't want you to think I forgot. I wasn't sure how soon I could get them out.
    Have a blessed day,
    Bonnie
